The project’s detailed feasibility study was completed in July 2009. Environmental clearance was received in June 2010. Perseus began construction of the project after receiving approval from the Government of Ghana.
Description
ASHANTI GOLD
The gold operation at Obuasi, 200km north-west of Accra in Ghana, was the major asset of Ashanti Goldfields Company (AGC), established in London in 1897.
AngloGold Ashanti Ghana, a wholly-owned subsidiary of South African gold miner AngloGold Ashanti, has restarted operations at its Obuasi gold mine after mining activities were suspended five years ago.
